——————————————

Answer by Jakester
One can learn how often a specific phrase is searched for by looking it up with the google keyword tool, that is made for adwords advertisers who bid on keywords. Site designers striving to rank for ‘niche’ terms that return thousands of search results, rather than impossibly competitive phrases with millions of search results will identify keyword phrases that are searched only a moderate number of times, but still have some commercial value.
Once some specific niche keywords phrases are identified, they are put in domain names, page titles, header text, body text and image captions, alt text and file name. This repeated but natural looking use of a key phrase makes the page score highly for that key phrase, which helps the page rank for that search term.
with millions of pages matching some search terms, the only realistic way of attaining the dream of appearing on page one of google is to optimize the site for a relatively obscure term that is popular enough to attract houndreds or thousands of visitors to the huge fish in a tiny pond.

Answer by Sunny
To be honest you question is too general and broad, seo is comprehensive and long term work, it’s related with your keywords, site structure, site history, link building and many many factors. If you really want to learn about it, I recommend you to check the site I list here, for they have listed all the detailed seo process with brief introduction.

Question by :
What is the ideal way to do SEO for your website online?
All these cruddy websites spam you with the fact that they supposedly have the “best ability to get you noticed online” or use CPC or CPM. Well, I do not have an endless amount of moo-lah as most people can state about themselves as well. I do not want to buy any ILLEGAL boosting software that will injured my ranking or get me banned from google. Does anyone know of a way to bump up your Google and Yahoo rankings? (since it is so hard to get your site noticed unless you are a large firm, celebrity, or have tons of cash?)

I have tried: Good Keywords (used key word creation tools, did not work), twitter, facebook, myspace (back in the day), CPC or CPM (too costly on a limited budget), google adwords, yahoo advertising, on the web classified ad’s, tried social bookmarking (de.li.ci.ous, stumbleupon, folkd, etc.), Youtube (using good keywords/tags and putting it in a good category), Affiliate Marketing, and many more ways.

This would be for an on the web only service, not a local service or small business.

Is there really any way a person’s/people’s website can get noticed these days w/o putting much more into it than your Return on Investment will be worth?

(Any LEGAL software to use?)

I need help..I have a digital content download site and my monthly fees are accumulating faster than ever. They will cost so much more than my ROI on my downloads, sheesh, any ideas guys?

Answer by Kevin King
Wow! Sounds like you have tried just about everything. But truth is that a lot of the methods that you mentioned do in fact work, but the results might not be immediate – and some might not work for you as well as others or not at all. It’s all about testing usually over a minimum 30 – 90 day period to really gauge results. One method that has stood the test of time as a great free advertising strategy is article marketing. Perhaps you should try that because we all know the Content is King! For ideal results submit a one-of-a-kind article to each directory. There are hundreds of article directories online.

Answer by Constant Strategies
I am in the exact same process with my website(s). The most powerful way to get higher search rankings (PageRank)is with Inbound Links from High ranking sites within your industry. It really takes a lot of time, and a good public image. Articles are a great way, and answering Yahoo! Questions is good also. Get involved with Professional Networks (for free). Any traffic is good traffic.

ALSO, none of this helps with SEO if your site is not properly optimized. Title tags and description tags MUST match the content on your pages. Links, Link text, and Link titles should all correspond to the keywords you have selected.

Question by dfasf d:
SEO, I am clueless. Is there a software program that I can buy, or company I can pay for decent results?
Business is decent, but time-consuming. Paid search advertising is producing solid results, but I do not have the time to put into SEO. ALL of my keywords are VERY specific. I wholesale, so all of my keyword phrases include wholesale at the beginning of the phrase, so I only want customers that are searching for “wholesale widgets”. What are good, solid software programs or companies I can pay to rank me high on google when my specific key phrases are searched?
Oh, I have tried google adwords, but my keyword phrases are too limited, and google wants $ 5 per click to list my ads….yes, the ads are well written, consise, and descriptive.

I’m ideally looking to pay a couple of hundred bucks on the front end
As far as great content, my site is basically photos of the products I wholesale, and a pricelist (not a lot of text).

For links, I have posted up a lot of links in craigslist.

——————————————

Answer by everythingmontreal
http://seo.gajhosting.com/home/index.php

They can put together a comprehensive program for you that used adwords, overture and other relevant ppc sites. Plus they can take care of all your linking needs which in turn can help your ranking.

Answer by 4knowledge
You need good content to go with the pics. People search for information as well as images.

Answer by Rich
Build your inbound links.
The more links you have to your site the superior it well rank.
Most of the directories on the web charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

Question by stephen t:
Has anyone used Google Adwords, Yahoo, Bing to get customers?
I am putting together a web site and I want to try on-line marketing for local customers. I do not know a lot about it. Does it work? Is it expensive? What are your experiences with it? Some things I think about is having people click on my ads from other locations or other companies trying to sell me stuff, and I get charged for the clicks. I have been researching SEO and things like that. I have been putting some time into it but it is hard because it is outside of my skill set.

Answer by Deepak Kamani
Yes I have used Google Adwords to advertise my website morningafterpillstore(dot)com so as to get traffic. You can consult to an PPC or SEO company to do PPC for your website & then enroll into Google Adwords program. This well help you to fetch traffic.

Answer by Sandeep
Yes I did! It only helps when you are providing some quality information or products. Because they do not tell visitor to purchase you products :P:P: hahhaha

Answer by Andreas
For many businesses online, the common fear is receiving negative flak and feedbacks coming from users and customers. Of course, any form of complaints and negative feedbacks are hard pills to swallow but if you are involved in on the web marketing in Taiwan or works with practitioners of search engine optimization you need to be objective when it comes to these. Even though you are still getting these negative complaints, you have to keep in mind that these are necessary for the business, and important n promoting excellent customer service. The challenge here is using these negative feedbacks or comments and making and using all these to help the website. There are many options on how you can reverse the damage and ultimately help your website gets the attention that it deserves. Here are three suggested recommendations on how to handle these negative feedbacks that you get on your website.

Question by :
Does useing SEO keywords in a subdomain boost search engine ranking?
http://soldbystudents.com is just a small website I made for students in my school to purchase and sell textbooks. I just did marketing with fliers but I recently added other schools hoping to expand to others as we got emails of people thanking us for the service and telling us it was a good idea.

What I am wondering is what if I did sub domain with keywords that people would search for. for example UniversityCalgaryUsedTextbooks.soldbystudents.com. After building back links for this sub domain would this help rank us higher in google for this keyword vs the same keyword for our homepage (soldbystudents.com)? This sub domain is not the actual location on soldbystudents devoted for university of calgary. so what happens if we redirect this sub domain to the actual University of Calgary address (http://soldbystudents.com/ad-category/alberta/universityofcalgary/)? will google void this sub domain as not relevant?

Hope that was not too confusing. Thanks for all help. I genuinely appreciate it!

——————————————

Answer by Jake
Subdomains were used as a means to isolate some poorly ranking content from the main site in a strategy to counter the Panda filter effect, in response Google actually re-classified how they handle subdomains, they are now treated a bit more like a sub directory in their ranking system. Probably keywords in a subdomain have similar effect as in the second level of the url path.

In practical terms, dealing with multiple subdomains is a larger management hassle.

You can probably do as well with proper inner linking strategies.

http://www.seomoz.org/blog/ discusses inner link structures in detail, though most is only worth implementing on commerce sites with thousands of pages having trouble even getting all of their pages indexed.

http://www.seomoz.org/dp/the-internet-marketing-handbook

Answer by janeline ♥
Absolutely yes! Nearly all of the domain names came from their own keywords. It is more searchable too!

Answer by design
Using the keyword in your sub domain helps to rank well in the search engine. You could be able to grab visitors through the keywords. It helps to improve the search engine ranking faster and easier.

Question by :
Is it possible for a former SEO to be leaching off our company’s website if his site link was put on ours?
A former disgruntled (we did not know he was disgruntled until months after we parted ways) SEO provider went to work for our company’s previous management (also disgruntled) who of which decided to go into direct competition with our company. Before our company realized the former SEO provider was disgruntled, he asked us if he could place a link to his SEO site onto our company website. We decided this would not be a problem, as when people went to his site, he would also have our website as an example of the work he did. Soon after this, we removed his link from our site. Now we are suspicious that, unethically, he might have linked our site to his and the competitor of ours that he works with, possibly allowing their companies to move up in Google taking advantage of our position.

Answer by Jakester
Those sub-menus that appear under a search results are called Google Sitelinks, they state an automated system generates them, but also mention showing if they think it would useful and when the site has a structure that makes sense for Site links.

The guides for getting sitelinks seem confident that your site has to rank #1 for the search term

Answer by Paul Mclaughlin
Hey Zach,

This is the part of creating a website that can really suck, trust me, I have had several websites and the part that I always dread the most if getting backlinks.

You could try hiring an SEO specialist if you have the money, but if i were you I would learn a tiny more about the backlinking process, this way when you do have the money to pay someone, you at least comprehend what your paying for.

There is this one astonishing site i found a few days ago with this guy giving away 20 back links / month for free. I recieved his 1st backlink pack and it went in great detail explaining how to get the backlink with the website information.

Hopefully he hasn’t shut the doors yet.

the link is here:

http://getbacklinksforfree.com/deesbacklinks/

I just signed up so my account doesn’t let me have a link.

Anyway Good Luck if you can get it.

PaulMC

Answer by Reet
well, if you are not getting ranking for your keywords , then i have an answer like you have not posted enough blogs and forum cause they are the main source for your ranking in seo, first just try to post enough blogs/forum then you can see that result of ranking in seo for your website will increase and stay stable.

Answer by Stephanie Mildred
It is really important to think about the keyword that you use when you want to increase your ranking in search engine or gain web traffic, you should do keyword research to pick right and relevant keywords. You should have also know the maximum keyword that you can use in a new website, you should pick 5-10 keyword and for old website 20-30 keywords is much better.

——————————————

Question by www.welcometothecarolinas.com:
How to SEO my website http://www.welcometothecarolinas.com to come up with keywords fort mill sc real estate?
Can anyone give me some SEO tips for my website http://www.welcometothecarolinas.com? I am trying to come up on google for the keywords: fort mill sc real estate or fort mill sc homes.

——————————————

Answer by Geoffrey Curtis
You have to check out www.seogodfather.com It fully automates the SEO process without spending the massive bucks on the outside services. It cost like $ 98 and is well worth it. You stay in complete control of keywords, phases and everything, but, it does all the work. You just have to turn it on once a day and walk away. I have been using it with one of on the web businesses and I am getting really good results.
It primarily works using medium density keywords. Which still gives you really god results, without trying to compete with the massive huge websites!

Answer by VicSEO
First of all, your
uses an abbreviation for your business say location. Spell out “North, South Carolina”. And lengthen your
metatag for more descriptive language and finally, shorten the number of entries in the <keywords> metatag which is normally limited to 15 words which are plural and compound variations.

As to your choice of web design which includes massive flash files, did you survey your client base to determine whether or not they are Net dial users or high-speed DSL subscribers. It’s very important to know that at the outset of your ecommerce solicitation since the majority of dial uppers will simply leave your website due to the slow uploads of the flash files. Should you discover that in fact your client base is well over 80% dial uppers, you should seriously think about redesigning your current website to remove the flash graphics and rely on a pure HTML-based opening webpage and use small .jpeg files to illustrate your housing inventory.

The following article might prove helpful to you in design of an effective ecommerce website along with SEO strategies on the opening webpage to generate major Net traffic.

The most effective way to advertise on the World wide web is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of World wide web shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very massive World wide web Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You might want to think about some easy algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase World wide web traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also think about the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, “Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?” And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then choose analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is ideal for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 60 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually up to 41 words to form a complete paragraph which
best describes one’s goods and services. It is not merely a list.

And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.

Here’s an example of a very highly-placed website on
Google.com: Start with the very “generic” search query
“sandwiches downtown los angeles,” taking note to not
abbreviate Los Angeles to “LA” and of course, leave
out the parentheses (“). It will bring up some 2.4
million+ search results. Check out where “Nazos.net”
is ranked. It’s on the SECOND FRONT [ranked 15]!
Again, Nazos.net’s high web presence was reached by
proper web design and placement of relevant metatags
according to Google’s publication guidelines.

Good luck!

Answer by Brent Csutoras
I think enough advice was given by VicSEO but i wanted to comment on another answer.

NO ONE should do what “hair” recommends. If you are not a pro and do not comprehend SEO at a high level then trading links will injured your site.

Do not do link exchanges or buy/sell links. This is a violation of the TOS for most search engines when it is being done to improve rankings.

You will be reading a thin line where interpretation is the law. You want to leave your company up to interpretation??

——————————————
